ANNOUNCING OUR SPRING 2022 HIRES

Orlando, FL Today, Rep. Anna V. Eskamani announced that People Power For Florida has hired seven new team members and promoted one former organizing fellow into a full-time role to advance its statewide voter registration efforts ahead of the 2022 Florida election cycle and beyond. “We are beyond excited to announce our Spring 2022 organizing fellow class and the introduction of two new roles,” said Rep. Eskamani. “Not only are we continuing to build transformational change, we are also investing in the next generation of young talent in Florida.”

Last year, People Power For Florida registered over 1,000 voters through grassroots organizing efforts and its online voter registration and vote by mail tool. Building on this progress, the seven new team members -- located from Tallahassee to South Florida -- will use their collective experience in community and political organizing to continue statewide voter registration efforts. New additions to the organizing fellowship team include:

  • Juan Carlos Almenar (he/him) [Orlando, FL]:  A junior at UCF, Juan Carlos has a passion for improving the community he lives in and volunteers for local and state elected officials and is active in local, national, and international issues from BLM to women’s rights.

  • Juan Ardila (he/him) [ South Florida]: Originally from Caracas, Venezuela he immigrated with his family to the US in 2003 and grew up in South Florida where he resides now. He is now focused on bringing about progressive change in his home state.

  • Johana Dauphin(she/her) [Tallahassee, FL]: Currently a student at FSU, social justice is very important to Johana and she is passionate about serving her community, advocating for black women, and educating people about racial justice.

  • Kristin Bach (she/her) [Tampa. FL]: Kristin graduated from USF in May, 2021 and her experience includes various Get Out the Vote campaigns for local candidates and canvassing for reproductive rights in Tampa, FL, Leesburg, VA, and Philadelphia, PA.

  • Londe Mondelus (she/her)[Tallahassee, FL]: Londe serves in the 51st student senate at Florida A & M University and is passionate about serving her community and educating people about the black experience in the US.

  • Melissa Saucedo (she/her) [Orlando, FL]: A third year student from UCF, Melissa is heavily involved in the campus community and is a proud advocate for DACA, TPS, and undocumented students as the Vice President of We Are Here.

In addition to new organizing fellows, People Power For Florida has recruited Sunny Toreihi and promoted former organizing fellow Aaron Facio-Cortes to serve as Statewide Organizing Coordinators

  • Sunny Toreihi (she/her) [Orlando, FL]: Sunny’s passion for politics started when she worked as a Campaign Intern and later, Field Team Leader in Anna Eskamani’s 2018 campaign for Florida House District 47. She’s beyond excited for this new role and plans on attending law school in the fall of 2022 with hopes of engaging in work supporting communities affected by sexual misconduct/violence.

  • Aaron Facio-Cortes (he/him) [Wesley Chapel, FL]: Graduating from USF this semester, Aaron is thrilled to continue his work with People Power For Florida in his new role.

“The expansion of our team and the introduction of new roles is a direct result of all the hard work and progress made by our talented staff and incredible volunteers. We have such an incredible and diverse team who have already had a strong start to 2022,” added Represenative Eskamani.

People Power For Florida has already had a strong start this year, registering over 300 voters in January.
