ANNOUNCING THREE NEW HIRES AND A STAFF PROMOTION

[Orlando, FL] Today, Representative Anna V. Eskamani announced that People Power For Florida has hired two new field organizers with a focus on leading voter registration efforts in Brevard County, FL, and the addition of a statewide organizing coordinator to advance current organizing operations.

“We are excited to expand our voter registration efforts into Brevard County and continue to build our team ahead of the 2022 Florida elections and beyond,” said Representative Eskamani. “The 2022 Florida Legislative Session has shown that our sacred right to vote continues to be targeted by extremism and disinformation. Our vision is to build efficacy among everyday Floridians, and inspire them to come out and vote.”

Earlier this year, People Power For Florida introduced seven new hires across the state. The new Brevard County field organizers include Betsy Bray and Lucy Casey. Both Lucy and Casey are Cocoa Beach residents with years of experience in political activism and organizing.

In addition, Allison Minnerly has joined the People Power For Florida team as a Statewide Organizing Coordinator. Prior to joining the team, Allison has held positions with Val Demings for the U.S. Senate and Representative Carlos Guillermo Smith’s office. As a Brevard County local herself, Allison will work closely alongside Betsy and Lucy while continuing to expand voter registration efforts throughout the state, including People Power’s digital footprint.

“So far in 2022 we’ve registered nearly 2,000 people to vote in person and via our virtual online portal,” added Representative Eskamani. “We’re using every tool we have to connect with our communities and build collective power.”

Allison is assuming Sunny Toreihi’s former role as she celebrates a promotion to Interim Operations Director until July 2022. Within her first few months, Sunny has already launched successful high school voter registration campaigns and supported our preexisting statewide efforts. “I am honored to continue my work and grow with People Power For Florida, especially as an Iranian-American woman who was born and raised in Florida.” said Sunny. “Voter registration efforts are critical towards building transformational change in Florida. Betsy, Lucy, and Allison are all strong additions to the team and I am excited for People Power For Florida’s future.”

People Power for Florida was launched as a voter registration group by Representative Eskamani last year and has been focused not only on voter registration but also expanding voter knowledge and developing a pipeline of civically engaged young leaders. Learn more at peoplepowerforflorida.com.
