PEOPLE POWER FOR FLORIDA ANNOUNCES NEW HIGH SCHOOL OUTREACH PROGRAM

Orlando, FL — A record-breaking 159.8 million Americans voted in the 2020 election. And a record-breaking number of those votes went to President Joe Biden, who received over 78 million votes — roughly 5.5 million more than Donald Trump.

Generation Z, who are currently between the ages of 8 and 23, played a significant role in both of these records. NBC exit polls suggest that 65% of those between the ages of 18 and 24 voted for Biden — 11% more than any other age group.

But we shouldn’t assume that every member of Generation Z is activated and ready to vote.

That's why today, People Power For Florida is excited to announce our new High School Outreach Program called Campus Collective!

By working with Gen Z for Change and the Don’t Say Gay student activists, People Power for Florida is launching a statewide, peer-to-peer student led voter registration program for 2022 focused on two major events: National Voter Registration Day on September 20th and the Voter Registration Deadline on October 11th.

“The youth movement in Florida has been galvanized by the dangerous policies and actions of Governor Ron DeSantis,” said PPFF Founder and State House Representative Anna V. Eskamani. “From attacking LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, reproductive rights, people of color and freedom of speech, young people at high schools and college campuses across the Sunshine State have become more civically engaged and politically active — and we are committed to help them convert their anger, into action.”

It's the goal and vision of People Power for Florida to support the next generation, build a leadership pipeline, and protect American Democracy for generations to come. This new programs aligns well with these goals.
